How do you make a Safe Ranger?
Safe Ranger Africa works towards keeping rangers competent and safe by providing them with quality workshops presented by experienced local presenters with relevant knowledge of laws, culture and community engagement.
We believe that rangers require skills development that is relevant to their environment and within their legal responsibilities. We also focus on ranger wellbeing and health.

Douglas heads up our Safe Ranger Africa project, having worked in the Private Security Industry, Emergency Medical & Rescue Services and OHS. He is also trained as a Nature Guide and Ranger Patrol Leader, with a lifelong passion for conservation and a background in Emergency Services he started Safe Ranger Africa in 2012 and has trained over a 1000 Rangers in Ranger First Responder. He was on the panel that developed the “African Ranger First Aid Guidelines” initiated by the Game Rangers Association of Africa. He was also involved in multiple other Wildlife Law Enforcement and Field Ranger consulting projects. Along with his team, each with their own skills, experience and passion for Rangers they develop and present training relevant to African Rangers.
